As you embark on your trip to the Temples of Ramses II in Abu Simbel, you are about to discover one of the unique archaeological places on the planet. The grandeur and majesty of these twin temples, crafted out of the mountainside by skilled artisans during the 13th century BC, are a testament to the power and vision of Pharaoh Ramesses II and his Queen Nefertari.

These temples were built to celebrate his apparent success at the Action of Kadesh and to intimidate the Nubian people. Yet, they also bear witness to a time of outstanding artistic and cultural achievement, which still amazes and inspires visitors worldwide.

The Nubian Monuments, of which Abu Simbel is a part, constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site that extends along the Nile from Abu Simbel to Philae, near Aswan. The significance of these monuments lies not only in their creative and cultural value but also in their historical and archaeological importance. They provide a unique insight into the world of the pharaohs and the ancient civilization that flourished along the Nile for thousands of years.

Your visit to Abu Simbel will be a personalized and informative experience guided by a qualified Egyptologist who will share with you the secrets and stories of this magical place. As you explore the four rock-hewn pharaohs, you will be surprised by the concentration to point, the majesty of the statues, and the beauty of the murals that adorn the walls.

The history of the temples' discovery is just as fascinating as the temples. You will learn how, by sheer luck, they struggled in 1813 and the series of events that led to their eventual repair and protection.

While the temples are the main attraction, the stunning natural surroundings of the area will also captivate your senses. From the pristine waters of the Nile to the rugged desert landscape, every inch of Abu Simbel is a visual masterpiece that will leave you breathless.

When discussing luxury travel on the Nile River, there are two types: the ordinary Luxury Nile ship and the most luxurious option, the dahabiya Nile Cruise.

Our Recommendation for a Luxury Nile Cruise:

Our Recommendation for a Luxurious Dahabiya small ship

Opting for a four-night voyage guarantees ample moments to marvel at the Nile's eminent attractions like the renowned Karnak and Abu Simbel temples. Yet, if you prefer a more unhurried pace, embark on a seven-night expedition, uncovering a plethora of lesser-known gems such as Dra Abu Nag and the awe-inspiring Medinet Habu.

Yes, indeed! Visitors have the opportunity to venture into the inner chamber of the great pyramids of Giza. However, it's essential to note that each pyramid requires the purchase of a separate ticket for entry. So, if you're eager to explore these ancient marvels up close, be sure to plan accordingly and acquire the necessary tickets beforehand.

Indeed, a tourist visa is imperative for U.S. passport holders, and we at Your Egypt Tours recommend acquiring an electronic visa (eVisa) for seamless travel arrangements. For your eVisa, you can visit this website and apply online at: visa2egypt.gov.eg/eVisa/Home.

In Egypt, you can take pictures in most places you will visit, except for the burial chambers of the pyramids, inside the Egyptian Museum (but you can take pictures outside of Museum which has many monuments and statues), the Valley of the Kings, as well as police and military check points.

Here is a list of basic Egyptian Arabic phases. My recommendation would be to learn the ones I highlighted for you:
