Tour Itinerary

Spend the afternoon with your qualified Egyptologist guide on a private tour exploring the East Bank of Luxor to see two of the most impressive temples in Upper Egypt - Karnak and Luxor.

Start your day tour in Luxor with a visit to the Temple of Karnak. Pass through the Avenue of the Sphinxes as you proceed towards the temple’s entrance. Your knowledgeable Egyptologist guide will provide you a fascinating introduction to these masterfully crafted statues.

Prepare to be transported through time as you delve deeper into this wondrous temple complex. Proceed to the Great Hypostyle Hall and marvel at the 134 towering columns adorned in stunningly well preserved hieroglyphs. At the rear of the complex, you will find the sacred lake where pharaohs and their offerings were purified centuries ago.  After your tour of the complex, you will have free time to explore the ruins at your leisure before going to the next site.

Continue to Luxor Temple, formerly connected to the Temple of Karnak by the over-mile-long Avenue of the Sphinxes. Marvel at the grandeur of the statues of Ramses II, which dominate the entrance to the temple. Your knowledgeable Egyptologist will give you a fascinating introduction to this temple and the fascinating story of how Alexander the Great was involved in the temple's history.  During this private tour you will be able to determine how much time you would like to spend at each temple during this day tour.

At the rear of the complex, you will find the sacred lake where centuries ago pharaohs and their offerings to the gods were purified. After a tour of the complex, you will have additional free time to explore at leisure. Continue to Luxor Temple which was once joined to the Temples of Karnak by a 2-kilometer-long Avenue of Sphinx, a portion of which marks the entrance to the temple. Dominated by statues of the great warrior pharaoh Ramses II, Luxor Temple has survived Nile floods, foreign invasion, and thousands of years exposed to the elements. A pure Egyptian temple, the inner walls and columns are decorated with intricate hieroglyphics, which your guide will help you decipher.

Find out how Alexander the Great wrote himself into Luxor Temple's history, and see one of the original pair of the obelisk, the second of which now stands on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. This is a private tour allowing you to determine the amount of time spent at each of the temples during the tour.

Being in Luxor for a single day is preferable to staying away. The main attractions in Luxor may be seen in one day. You can go to Hatshepsut Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, and possibly one or two other monuments on a day excursion to Luxor. The truthful response would be that a day trip to Luxor is insufficient.

It is frequently described as the largest open-air museum in the world and for a good cause. You may find a ton of ruins, monuments, temples, and tombs there. You'll need at least two days of Egypt day tours to discover all that Luxor has to offer without feeling rushed.

Unless you travel with a tour group, visiting Luxor on your own can be rather stressful. Luxor has so many archaeological sites and things to do that touring each temple and cemetery may take several days and a lot of money!

There are no set meter rates for cabs in Luxor, although depending on your negotiation skills, the majority of journeys will cost between 5 and 150 Egyptian pounds (approximately $0.50 to $17). Uber and other ride-hailing services are not available in Luxor.

You should set aside about $200 for Luxor excursions, which would likely involve visiting the Luxor and Karnak Temples. West Bank Temples and the Valley of Kings and Queens. Felucca rides at sunset.

Absolutely mind blowing. A definite must see. We flew from Aswan after I contact them, as I did not want to sit in car for hours with my 10-year-old daughter. Just so much history and ancient love. You cannot miss this one thing if you are in Cairo. The rocks are just HUGE, so special.

I recently traveled with my wife, daughter, son in law and two grandsons (ages 4 and 2). We had a private tour experience. From the moment we landed at the airport on our arrival to the day we left we were treated with the utmost care and attention
