Bahariya / White Desert
Escape the buzz of the city and step into a world unlike any other on this unforgettable overnight safari. Over two incredible days, you’ll journey from Cairo deep into Egypt’s Western Desert, exploring the dramatic landscapes of Bahariya Oasis, the Black Desert, and the stunning White Desert.
Led by an expert desert guide and traveling in a comfortable 4x4, this adventure promises jaw-dropping scenery, rich history, and an authentic taste of Bedouin life under the stars.
Your desert escape begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Sit back and enjoy the scenic 4-hour drive to Bahariya Oasis (about 350 km southwest of Cairo), with a couple of relaxing coffee breaks along the way. You’ll pass through remote desert towns and alongside railway tracks that carry iron ore to Helwan’s steel mills—reminders of the region’s industrial past.
Upon arrival in Bahariya, you'll hop into a rugged 4x4 and meet your personal safari guide. From here, the real adventure begins.
First stop: The Black Desert – a surreal landscape blanketed in volcanic sand and scattered basalt boulders, unlike anything you've ever seen.
Next: El Haize Oasis, where you can dip your feet into a natural hot spring and enjoy a delicious homemade Egyptian lunch. This tranquil spot was once a bustling Roman settlement, and you’ll even get to visit the small Water Museum nearby to learn about life in the desert.
Then: Crystal Mountain, also known as the “Jewel of the Desert,” where glittering quartz crystals shine like gems in the sunlight—a perfect photo op!
Moving on to Agabat Valley, a remote and dreamy expanse of white limestone peaks and soft dunes. Here, you’ll get the chance to try sandboarding for a bit of adrenaline-fueled fun.
Finally: The White Desert, a true natural wonder. Towering chalk formations shaped by wind over thousands of years take on bizarre and beautiful shapes—giant mushrooms, camels, even a chicken! You’ll feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet.
As the sun dips below the horizon, you'll settle into your desert campsite in the heart of the Black Desert. A traditional Bedouin-style barbecue dinner will be served under a canopy of stars—an experience you won’t soon forget.
Camping gear (tents, mattresses, and sleeping bags) is all provided for a cozy night under the stars.
Meals included: Lunch & Dinner
Overnight: Desert camp in the Black Desert
Wake up early to watch the sunrise paint the desert in golden hues—a truly magical moment of peace and beauty. After a light breakfast, you'll begin the journey back toward Bahariya.
Depending on the season, you’ll stop for a soak in one of the area’s natural springs:
Bir Sigam – warm and rich in minerals, perfect for cooler months
Bir Madi – a cool, refreshing spring ideal for summer days
Before leaving Bahariya, you’ll take a quick drive through its lush palm groves and salt lakes—one last glimpse of oasis life.
By afternoon, you’ll be back on the road to Cairo, arriving at your hotel in the early evening, with unforgettable memories and plenty of stories to share.
