Tour Itinerary

Step back in time to the days of ancient Egypt on a tour of the Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx, the necropolis of Sakkara, and the former capital, Memphis. With your Egyptologist guide to lead the way on this tour, you can determine the amount of time you'd like to spend at each of the sites you'll visit. The Giza Plateau is only around 30 minutes from Cairo, where your qualified Egyptologist guide will provide a fascinating introduction to each of the three pyramids: Cheops, Khafre, and Menakaure.

You will have free time to enter one of the pyramids (optional), though your guide is not permitted to enter with you or take a camel ride (optional). After visiting the pyramids, you'll continue across the plateau for a photo opportunity of the three pyramids rising from the sands, with the Cairo tour skyline in the background. A short drive to the city side of the plateau finds you standing at the feet of the Sphinx, for thousands of years the enigmatic symbol of Egypt.

Your next stop is Sakkara, home of Egypt's oldest pyramid, built-in 2800 B.C. Your guide will provide a brief history of the famous Step Pyramid and you’ll have free time to walk around. Your final stop is Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. Here you will see artifacts from many of the great rulers of Egypt, including the fallen statue of Ramses II and the second-largest sphinx in Egypt. You will also have the chance to visit a Papyrus Institute to see how the famous artwork is made.

Be sure to stay at the pyramids of Giza for at least three hours. That way, you'll have plenty of time to get into the pyramid, look at the view from the top, and take a picture with the sphinx. If you're in Cairo for the day, you should definitely check out both the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum.

It costs 200 Egyptian pounds (11 US dollars) to just take a look at the pyramids during Giza day tours. On the other hand, you can pay 400 Egyptian pounds (22 US dollars) to enter the Great Pyramid. The site is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from October to March and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily from April to September.

Exploring the pyramids on your own is one of our favorite things to do in Giza, and we believe it will be easy to do with a tour guide if you need to discover the secrets of the place and know its history, also the tour guide will help you with photography.

The walk up the Great Pyramid's Grand Gallery can be a hot and crowded experience, so if you are claustrophobic or have a general dislike of crowds, this activity is not for you. Despite this, we were able to make it through and consider it a worthwhile experience. However, the Grand Gallery is crowded and there is not much to see inside the pyramid.

The price of camel rides in Egypt is set at 50 Egyptian pounds (approximately $3 USD) per 30 minutes. This price is indicated by a sign at the entrance of the area and can be pointed out to visitors who are having difficulty obtaining a reasonable price from touts.

Absolutely mind blowing. A definite must see. We flew from Aswan after I contact them, as I did not want to sit in car for hours with my 10-year-old daughter. Just so much history and ancient love. You cannot miss this one thing if you are in Cairo. The rocks are just HUGE, so special.
