Shore excursions, ship tours and day trips to Cairo from Alexandria Port to Giza Pyramids Egypt from vessels, cruise ships arriving Alexandria where you will get excited by a panoramic view of the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus and many other ancient historical sites.

You will be picked up at Alexandria port by your English-speaking Egyptologist guide. You will then drive to Cairo (about 3-hour drive from Alexandria) to the famous Giza Plateau, home of Egypt’s signature attractions, to visit the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing: the Giza pyramids and the mysterious Sphinx. With your own private Egyptologist guide to lead the way, you can determine the amount of time you will spend at each of the sites you visit.

Your Egyptologist guide will first provide a fascinating introduction to each of the three pyramids: Cheops, Khafre and Menakaure. You will have free time to enter one of the pyramids (optional, for an additional cost); however, your guide is not permitted to enter with you; or you can go on a camel ride (optional, for an additional cost). After visiting the pyramids, you will continue across the plateau for a photo opportunity of the three pyramids rising from the sands, with the Cairo skyline in the background. A short drive to the city side of the plateau finds you standing at the feet of the Sphinx, for thousands of years the enigmatic symbol of Egypt! Also in Giza, you may visit the Solar Boat Museum (optional, for an additional cost), home to the remarkably well-preserved funerary boat of Khufu.

You will then drive to Sakkara which is Egypt’s oldest ancient cemetery. There you will visit the world’s first known monumental stone building by the engineer Imhotep: the Step Pyramid of King Zoser. You will tour one of the magnificent Mastabas (burial chambers) of Ptah Hotep, Idut or Mereruca. After your sightseeing tour, you will stop at a Papyrus Institute where you will learn how papyrus paper is made and have a chance to purchase a genuine item if you like. After the completion of your tour, you will be driven back to your cruise ship in Alexandria Port. The tour lasts 11-12 hours.

  1. This is simply the best way to experience Cairo and the Pyramids from a cruise ship. You have your own driver and a guide who picked us up from Alexandria port. They are able to take you everywhere and as a small group (with us it was two adults and two kids), you get in and through things so much quicker than a bus tour and therefore you get to see so much more. No waiting around for everyone to get on the bus. Shaimaa was our guide and she was simply wonderful, giving us some real personal guidance on things we wanted to find out about. Having our own car and driver was fantastic such as when we would walk around one lot of pyramids and then the car would pick us up on the other side. As we were always walking around with our guide, Shaimaa would also keep all the hassles clear from us such as with the local peddlers etc. When we got back to the cruise ship, I would have to say that of everyone we spoke to about Egypt, our experience was simply so much better and thanks can only go to Your Egypt Tours and Shaimaa. Have already recommended them to other friends and would go back and use them again. I just simply say enough good things about them.
