Shore excursions, ship tours and day trips to Cairo from Alexandria Port to Giza Pyramids Egypt from vessels, cruise ships arriving Alexandria where you will get excited by a panoramic view of the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus and many other ancient historical sites.

You will be picked up at Alexandria port by your English-speaking Egyptologist guide. You will then drive to Cairo (about 3-hour drive from Alexandria) to the famous Giza Plateau, home of Egypt’s signature attractions, to visit the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing: the Giza pyramids and the mysterious Sphinx. With your own private Egyptologist guide to lead the way, you can determine the amount of time you will spend at each of the sites you visit.

Your Egyptologist guide will first provide a fascinating introduction to each of the three pyramids: Cheops, Khafre and Menakaure. You will have free time to enter one of the pyramids (optional, for an additional cost); however, your guide is not permitted to enter with you; or you can go on a camel ride (optional, for an additional cost). After visiting the pyramids, you will continue across the plateau for a photo opportunity of the three pyramids rising from the sands, with the Cairo skyline in the background. A short drive to the city side of the plateau finds you standing at the feet of the Sphinx, for thousands of years the enigmatic symbol of Egypt! Also in Giza, you may visit the Solar Boat Museum (optional, for an additional cost), home to the remarkably well-preserved funerary boat of Khufu.

You will then drive to Sakkara which is Egypt’s oldest ancient cemetery. There you will visit the world’s first known monumental stone building by the engineer Imhotep: the Step Pyramid of King Zoser. You will tour one of the magnificent Mastabas (burial chambers) of Ptah Hotep, Idut or Mereruca. You will then have lunch at a local restaurant. After your sightseeing tour, you will stop at a Papyrus Institute where you will learn how papyrus paper is made and have a chance to purchase a genuine item if you like. After the completion of your tour, you will be driven back to your cruise ship in Alexandria Port. The tour lasts 11-12 hours.

  1. Excellent Service from Your Egypt Tours
We were very lucky that our visit to Egypt took place at a time when Cairo was calm, so our tour was able to proceed as planned. When our cruise ship docked in Alexandria, Mamdouh, our guide was waiting for us, and we travelled in a comfortable minibus to Cairo. We visited the pyramids and the mosque of Mohammed Ali, then took a lunch cruise on the Nile before heading back to the ship with a stop at the Papyrus Institute. Mamdouh has an excellent command of English and a wealth of knowledge about the attractions we saw. We were happy to know that he would be our guide in Alexandria the next day and I have already recommended his service to family members who plan to visit the area as soon as the political situation allows.
