Tour Itinerary

Morning Pick-Up from Your Hotel

Your day begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Sit back and relax as your guide gives you a quick introduction to what you’ll discover today in Coptic Cairo.

The Hanging Church (Al-Muallaqa)

Our first stop is the famous Hanging Church, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Egypt. Built atop the southern gate of a Roman fortress, it almost seems to float – which is how it earned its name. Inside, admire the wooden ceiling shaped like Noah’s Ark, and learn how this church once served as the residence of the Coptic Patriarch between the 7th and 13th centuries.

Ben Ezra Synagogue

Next, we visit the historic Ben Ezra Synagogue – a place where legends and history intertwine. This beautiful building was originally a 4th-century Christian church before it became a synagogue in the 9th century. It’s believed to be the spot where the prophet Jeremiah gathered the Jewish people after the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Inside, you’ll discover stories and secrets from Cairo’s once-thriving Jewish community.

Lunch Break

After a morning full of inspiration and discovery, we’ll take you to a cozy local restaurant where you’ll enjoy a delicious Egyptian lunch. It’s a great chance to relax, chat with your guide, and soak in the atmosphere of the city.

Abu Serga Church

Refreshed and ready, we continue to the Church of Abu Serga, a deeply spiritual site believed to be built over the place where the Holy Family – Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus – took refuge during their time in Egypt. This church is not only a sacred spot but also an important historical site where many Coptic patriarchs were ordained.

Church of the Virgin Mary (Haret Zuweila)

Our final stop is the Church of the Virgin Mary in Haret Zuweila, thought to be the oldest church in the area. Though it likely dates back to the 10th century, inscriptions inside suggest a 12th-century consecration. This church also served as the seat of the Orthodox Pope of Alexandria for over a century.

Return to Hotel

At the end of this spiritual and cultural journey, we’ll drive you back to your hotel in comfort, leaving you with beautiful memories and a deeper appreciation for Egypt’s rich Christian heritage.

You can certainly enjoy Cairo day tours on your own, but having a tour guide around will be more beneficial because they can teach you about the background information and history of each Cairo attraction. Whatever mode of transportation you pick when visiting Cairo, be ready for crowds. Taxis and metro tickets are reasonably priced, as are both public and private tour buses.

Begin your day tour in Cairo with popular attractions such as the Pyramids of Giza, Saqqara, Memphis, and Dahsour, finish the attractions of Giza day tours then move to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, and end your day with a shopping tour in Khan El Khalili.

Cairo is one of the largest cities in the world, and the second largest in Africa by population. You could tour the city for weeks, but we suggest spending at least 3 days in Cairo on your first visit.

Absolutely mind blowing. A definite must see. We flew from Aswan after I contact them, as I did not want to sit in car for hours with my 10-year-old daughter. Just so much history and ancient love. You cannot miss this one thing if you are in Cairo. The rocks are just HUGE, so special.
